Blowing snow advisory issued

Environment Canada issued a blowing snow advisory Monday afternoon.

The weather agency warned that flurries, combined with strong northwesterly winds gusting to 70 kilometres an hour, will create blustery conditions during the afternoon and evening.

Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero in outlying areas along open fields.

Motorists are advised to slow down and adjust to changing conditions, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.

Environment Canada said blowing snow advisories are issued when winds are expected to create blowing snow giving poor visibility to 800 metres or less for at least 3 hours.
