67-year-old Sarnia man charged with stunt driving

A 67-year-old Sarnia man faces a charge of stunt driving after being clocked by police at more than 60 kilometres an hour above the posted speed limit.

A traffic stop was made after a police cruiser heading north on Waterworks Road just north of Michigan Avenue was approached by a speeding southbound vehicle at about 1 p.m. Monday.

Radar indicated the vehicle was travelling at 141 kilometres an hour in an 80 kilometer an hour zone.

The driver was charged with racing a motor vehicle-excessive speed, his driver's licence was suspended for seven days, and his vehicle was towed and impounded by police for seven days.

If convicted, he faces fines ranging from $2,000 to $10,000 as well as a further suspension of his licence.
