Just one new COVID case but two more deaths in Lambton

Sarnia-Lambton recorded just one new confirmed case of COVID-19 Tuesday but there were two more deaths.

Lambton Public Health reported the death toll has reached 44 since the pandemic started.

The health unit said the first individual was in the 60-plus age range and died in hospital on Monday, February 4.  The second passed away in hospital on Sunday, February 7 and was in the 80-plus age range.

The number of confirmed cases increased by just one over the past 24 hours for a total of 1,878. Resolved cases went up three to 1,791, lowering the number of active infections to 43 from 47 on Monday.

Active institutional and workplace outbreaks remained at eight and Bluewater Health had four positive patients in hospital and patients deaths updated at a total of 32.

As of late Monday afternoon the Lambton Kent District School Board's website showed one COVID-positive student at Forest's North Lambton Secondary School. The school remained open.
