Petrolia mourns loss of Tony Beaulieu

The flags were lowered to half-mast again Monday at the municipal office in Petrolia in honour of a former town councillor.

Tony Beaulieu, 63, died on Saturday, February 6.

In a statement, Chief Administrative Officer/Treasurer Rick Charlebois said Beaulieu served as a member of council for one term from 1998 to 2000, where he brought his community pride to his duties and kept the best interests of Petrolia in his heart.

Charlebois said he was known for his volunteerism in and around Petrolia.

"He was a board member for Bluewater Health, a Reserve Officer for the Department of National Defense, a Legion member and a Knights of Columbus member," said Charlebois.

Beaulieu was also an executive member of the Petrolia Jets and was know for coaching youth sports including soccer and baseball.

Arrangements for Mr. Beaulieu have been entrusted to Needham Jay Funeral Home.

A week ago the town mourned the loss of former councillor Mary Pat Gleeson.
