Lambton museum challenges residents to recreate old photos

The Lambton Heritage Museum is inviting residents to take a trip back in time through a vintage community photo challenge.

The museum has shared 10 old local photos on its website for residents to recreate or reimagine.

Program Coordinator Colleen Inglis said they selected two themes: snow and people.

"Some of the photos, the earliest ones would be from the late 1800s, early 1900s, and I think some of the more recent ones, maybe like the 1950s, 1960s," said Inglis. "We tried to include a range of adults and children, and we tried to select photos where there weren't a large number of people in the photo so that it's something that you can do with your household and not have to include a large number of people."

Inglis said participants can also use old photos from their personal collection that fits one of the categories.

She said the initiative goes along with the museum's Capturing the Moment exhibit.

"Although we're closed at the moment, the Community Photo Challenge was already planned, and fortunately, it's something that will allow us to connect with the community while they're at home."

Inglis said suitable entries will be displayed on the Lambton Heritage Museum website from March 1 to April 10.
