The Christmas spirit will continue shining until the end of January in Sarnia.
The Celebration of Lights displays at Centennial Park will be lit up until Sunday, January 31, with teardown now scheduled for February 6.
Board Chair Dean Holtz said the committee has decided to keep the lights lit, a request that was approved by the city.
He said the lights have provided residents with some comfort in a challenging year.
"It's a great opportunity for people to have fun with their families, and just something to look forward to," said Holtz. "It was one of those things where we got a lot of feedback that the lights at night really meant a lot to people. It's kind of been a symbol of hope for them."
Holtz said with the current Ontario-wide lockdown, it's even more important for families to have access to fun, outdoor activities.
Friday January 8, Holtz said they'll be using a crane to lower the big candle arch and "seasons greetings" display.
