Teddy Bear Toss campaign hits grand total of 70K

The final numbers have been tallied for this year's modified Teddy Bear Toss.

Lambton Ford President Rob Ravensberg said they've finished bagging the stuffed toys, and were able to collect 2,855.

He said that pushes their total to over 70,250 since the event's inception 23 years ago.

"I'd like to give a special thanks to everyone in the community," said Ravensberg. "It seems like Sarnia comes to the top and very generous through everything, both the residents of Sarnia-Lambton and the businesses. Without that, the event wouldn't be the success that we had this year especially in the times that we're in."

Ravensberg said the donations will support 12 local charities, including the Salvation Army and Inn of the Good Shepherd.

Toys were collected at the drive by Kinsmen Christmas Parade, at Toys R Us, and through various community partners.

Usually, stuffies are thrown onto the ice during the Sarnia Sting's Teddy Bear Toss game, but that was cancelled this year due to the pandemic.
