A dozen organizations benefit from United Way administered federal funding

A dozen local organizations have received financial support through a federal grant, aimed at helping them cope through the pandemic.

The Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF) provides support for groups who've had to adapt their frontline services.

The Sarnia-Lambton United Way administered a total of $107,396 in the second round of funding, announced in October.

The County of Lambton Student Nutrition program is getting $14,000 to offer healthy food choices to students, while $15,000 is being provided to the YMCA to provide food and wellness supplies to low-income families.

The Women's Interval Home receives $5,000 to purchase devices to provide virtual programming and two grants, totaling over $6,600, will go to Lambton Elderly Outreach to provide winter necessities including hats and gloves to isolated seniors. Money will also help purchase N95 masks for in home support workers.

A full list of agencies receiving ECSF grants is available at www.theunitedway.on.ca.
