The Sarnia-Lambton United Way is in the final stretch of this year's fundraising campaign, and it's safe to say it's been an uphill battle.
So far, $886,000 has been raised, or 47 per cent of the $1.9 million needs target, with just four weeks left to go.
Executive Director Dave Brown said last week was slow for the campaign, raising about $31,000.
"We tend to have slower weeks around this time of year as we're waiting for the larger campaigns to wrap up and others have just kicked off," said Brown. "So, that in and of itself is not a huge concern. We are still however tracking about $200,000 to $210,000 behind last year's campaign and we are starting now to run out of time, so that part is becoming a bit of a concern."
Brown said 1,938 donors have contributed to this year's campaign.
He said he anticipates they'll need about 4,200 donors by the end of the year to reach their target.
The United Way helps fund 18 local agencies providing 36 programs and services to the community.
