UPDATE: Woman seriously injured in two-vehicle crash

A 70-year-old Sarnia woman is in London hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash at Wellington Street and Brock Street early Tuesday afternoon.

Police said just before 1 p.m., police, firefighters, and Lambton EMS responded to the intersection where a westbound SUV had collided with another SUV that was travelling northbound on Brock Street.

The collision sent the northbound vehicle off the road causing it to hit a building, believed to be the Sarnia Education Centre, in the 200 block of Wellington Street.

The 59-year-old male driver and a 53-year-old male passenger in the westbound vehicle were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The 70-year-old driver of the northbound vehicle was taken to local hospital and then transported to London.

Police said the driver of the westbound SUV from Thedford is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with failing to stop at a red light.
