Sarnia council will be keeping a close eye on the development of a new subdivision just west of Modeland Road.
An Ontario numbered company is planning to build 95 homes between Michigan Avenue and Berger Road.
While council unanimously approved official plan and rezoning amendments Monday, councillor Mike Stark cautioned that he doesn't want to see past mistakes repeated.
"I think on the site plan agreement, we need to insist upon appropriate uniform fencing to finish that subdivision in an appropriate manner," said Stark. "I do not want to see a replication of what happened in Bright's Grove, and a mishmash that's out there. That's ridiculous."
General Manager of Community Services Stacey Forfar said the fencing issue can be dealt with through the draft plan conditions.
She said it's not unusual in other communities to have a standard for fencing that would be a requirement of the development industry.
