Go ahead given for three-tower apartment project

Sarnia council has approved zoning and official plan amendments for the construction of three, nine-storey, apartment towers on the south side of London Road near Afton Drive.

The project, geared mostly toward Lambton College students, will create 234 units with 910 bedrooms.

Councillor Bill Dennis is looking forward to seeing the project happen.

"I couldn't be happier with the economic impact from such a project from jobs for our citizens, to spinoffs for our local businesses, to positive impact on the city's revenue," said Dennis. "This, quite frankly, couldn't have come at a better time given we are all desperately trying to help our community recover from a global pandemic."

The development, on the former Harvey's Bingo site, by Toronto-based Cantam Group has an estimated cost between $10 million and $15 million.
