Man arrested after pedestrian's foot run over

A 26-year-old man is facing a long list of charges after allegedly running over someone's foot near the beach at the former Camp Ipperwash.

Anishinabek Police were called to the area just after 1:30 a.m. on June 3 for a report of an aggressive and erratic driver.

The young victim suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention.

Police said they went to the suspect's residence but he refused to answer the door. He was eventually arrested on June 9 after several attempts.

Derek Lewis is charged with four counts each of dangerous operation and criminal negligence, and two counts each of criminal harassment, assault with a weapon and breach of recognizance. He's also charged with driving while prohibited and failing to comply with probation.

Lewis was released on an Undertaking to appear in court on August 10, 2020.
