A 37-year-old man accused of driving recklessly and making death threats in Bright's Grove Friday night was arrested by Sarnia police.
Officers responded to the lakeside community after receiving detailed observations from a concerned citizen.
The citizen told police they witnessed a white Dodge Ram pickup barrel through a red light at the intersection of Waterworks and Lakeshore Roads and turn into the nearby plaza around 7:45 p.m.
The citizen alleges the driver went into a store and on his way back to the vehicle, stopped, made derogatory comments and threatened to kill and take the car of a teenager waiting in another vehicle in the parking lot.
According to the citizen, the driver then got back in his vehicle and drove away aggressively -- narrowly avoiding other vehicles and pedestrians.
Officers ended up locating the vehicle at a residence on Michigan Line and based on "professional type observations" police said, responding officers had "sufficient grounds to arrest the 37-year-old man."
The driver provided a breath sample that was more than twice the legal limit. He was charged with impaired operation, operation with a blood alcohol level over 80 and uttering threats to cause death.
Sarnia police reported Saturday morning the man was released from custody and will appear in court later this summer to speak to the charges.
