A Lambton County man charged in the shooting of three people in Kitchener last summer has been identified as a 22-year-old Petrolia man.
Brandon James appeared briefly in Kitchener court Friday and was remanded in custody until Monday when a date is to be set for a bail hearing.
Waterloo Regional Police said shortly before 5:40 p.m. on June 24, 2019 a man fired multiple rounds after a dispute with two other males escalated at a plaza in the area of Fairway Road South and Wilson Avenue. The shooter reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived.
A man who was involved in the dispute and two female bystanders were injured.
The male victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition and eventually released, but his injuries were life-altering. Both of the female victims were treated for non-life threatening injuries in hospital and released.
Following an investigation using forensic evidence, police arrested a man known to the male victim, on Thursday.
James is charged with three counts of aggravated assault, attempted aggravated assault, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition.
