Sarnia country artist excited for CMA-Ontario awards

Sarnia native Eric Ethridge says he's very excited about the Country Music Association of Ontario awards this fall.

He's nominated for Male Artist of the Year, Single of the Year and Video of the Year.

"Ontario has a lot of really, really, great and talented country artists so the competition is always really stiff," said Ethridge. "It's just an honour to even be nominated."

Ethridge's hit "If You Met me First" is up for the top song award.

"That was my last single on Canadian country radio and that one went top 40 across Canada, and has been streamed around 18-million times or something insane like that. So, that song was kind of a career-changer for me. It led to me signing a record deal and got me down to Nashville."

The awards show is October 4th at Centennial Hall in London. But Ethridge doesn't know if it will be in front of an audience or a computer screen because of the pandemic.
