Numerous charges laid following multi-unit police action in Point Edward

A 53-year-old Point Edward man faces numerous criminal charges after a multi-unit police action in the village Tuesday.

Lambton OPP's crime, emergency response, forensic and explosive disposal units converged on a Simpson Street property in connection with an aggravated assault investigation.

Police said the execution of a search warrant resulted in the seizure of weapons and suspected methamphetamine.

Steven Houghton has been charged with aggravated assault, forcible confinement, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and assault with a weapon.

He's also charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Lambton OPP said Houghton was being held in custody and was scheduled to appear in Sarnia court Wednesday.
