OPP seize drugs, firearm in Petrolia traffic stop

A traffic stop in Petrolia on March 24 led to the seizure of drugs and a firearm.

Lambton Ontario Provincial Police were on general patrol at around 7:30 a.m. when they pulled over a vehicle.

It's alleged the driver had a suspended license and was arrested. Police said they found suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, currency and a firearm.

Eric Burgstaler, 30, of Windsor, was arrested and charged with the following:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose Possession of Imitation Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose Obstruct Peace Officer Operation While Prohibited under Criminal Code Fail to Comply with Recognizance (Four Counts)

At around 3 p.m. on April 2, police located the passenger from the vehicle and arrested him after a short foot chase.

Kyle Samko, 25, of Sarnia, was arrested and charged with the following:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose Possession of Imitation Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - Under $5000 Resist Peace Officer

Both accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on June 3, 2020.
