Two charged with trafficking in cocaine bust

A 32-year-old Sarnia man and a 27-year-old Point Edward woman face drug trafficking charges following a cocaine bust earlier this week.

Sarnia police vice unit officers, investigating the movement of cocaine through the city over the past month, saw a man allegedly conduct a drug deal in a hotel parking lot in the 400 block of Christina Street at around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Constable John Sottosanti said the man was arrested and taken to police headquarters where a secondary search located nearly 17 grams of cocaine -- worth over $1,700.

Early the next morning officers were granted a warrant and searched a hotel room where the suspect had been staying with a female.

Drug paraphernalia, including scales and packaging material, were seized and a female suspect who entered the room during the search was arrested.

Jeremy Joseph Spinks of Sarnia is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and two counts of failure to comply with a release order.

Alysha Dewey is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

They are both scheduled to appear in Sarnia Court on March 25.
