A Sarnia engineering firm that decided to breathe new life into the former Dow Recreation Centre is encouraging other local businesses to think outside the box.
Langtree Controls spent over $2 million in 2019 renovating the 20,000 square foot facility off Wellington Street, just east of Modeland Road.
Managing Partner Alpesh Patel said they moved into the building at the end of November.
"The biggest draw for this particular building was the location, we wanted this location, it was really great for us and all the space around," said Patel. "But then we started breaking it down and we worked with our managing contractor and architect."
He said the building, which now has two floors of office space including both individual offices and spaces for teams to work, was completed on time and on budget.
"We had some guests who came in, saw it, and they all said the same thing. They couldn't believe how well we had transformed the space. Just in what we had gone through, yes, I would say by all means any of those buildings that you think how best it would meet your needs, I'm sure if you get started you can work it out. New builds, sometimes you don't have the space. I would anytime go for this kind of renovation, for sure."
Langtree Controls currently has over 60 employees and offers a variety of services, including pre-engineering, budget preparation, detailed design and project management.
