'Tis the season for shoplifting, unfortunately. Sarnia police received another eight shoplifting complaints over the weekend. Cst. John Sottosanti says it's a prevalent crime, especially at this time of year.
"We do ask that stores keep an eye out, greet your customers if you can, to let them know that they are within the stores," said Sottosanti. "We are not asking that the individual chase anybody or attempt to apprehend, but a lot of times preventative measures such as saying hello and greeting a person when they come into a store makes a difference in deterring that crime from happening."
Sarnia police handled 196 calls for service over the weekend including eight missing person reports, six domestic disputes, and four trespassers.
