SWIFF returns to Sarnia for fifth year

The fifth annual South Western International Film Festival is coming to Sarnia from November 7 to 10 at the Imperial Theatre.

It will feature fifteen films, live music, virtual reality exhibits, workshops and more.

SWIFF Executive Director Ravi Srinivasan said Castle In The Ground, directed by Joey Klein, will hit close to home for some viewers.

The film, set in Sudbury, tackles the opioid crisis in Ontario.

"We're really excited to have Castle In The Ground and Joey Klein coming to Sarnia to talk to the audience about the film but also about how locally we're coping with our own crisis with opioids," said Sriniavsan. "We're actually partnering with the Bluewater Methadone Clinic with a very important discussion after that film."

The opening night film is called Parasite, directed by Bong Joon-Ho, which follows a destitute family that gets hired by a rich household.

Other films include White Lie, Antigone, Murmur, We Will Stand Up, and more.

Tickets are on sale at www.swiff.ca and at the Imperial Theatre Box Office.
