Driver of car in triple fatal facing criminal charges

The driver of a car involved in a crash that killed three passengers south of Oil Springs early this month faces criminal charges. At around 1:30 a.m. October 4th, OPP, Lambton EMS and the Oil Springs and Dawn-Euphemia fire departments responded to a single vehicle crash on Oil Heritage Road, between Aberfeldy Line and Gum Bed Line. Three 19-year-old passengers were pronounced dead at the scene while the driver, a 22-year-old Windsor man, escaped serious injury and was taken to hospital as a precaution. Lambton OPP said Friday that Jovanpreet Singh has been charged with three counts of dangerous operation causing death, dangerous operation causing bodily harm, three counts of criminal negligence causing death, criminal negligence causing bodily harm and obstructing a peace officer. Police previously reported that the three teens killed in the crash, identified as international students at St. Clair College in Windsor, were not wearing seat belts.
