Sting's Gaudreau, Rees to represent Canada

Sarnia Sting rookie goalie Benjamin Gaudreau is one of 24 OHL players that will represent Canada at the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

A total of 66 players from across the CHL will be divided into three teams – Team Canada Black, Team Canada Red and Team Canada White – and compete against the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden and the United States in their quest for a gold medal.

Each of the OHL's 20 member teams are represented on the list led by the Flint Firebirds, Owen Sound Attack, Peterborough Petes and Sudbury Wolves each with two players selected.

Other players of note include Kingston's Shane Wright, Peterborough's Mason McTavish, and Wyatt Johnston of the Windsor Spitfires.

Gaudreau hasn't played for the Sting yet this year as he makes his way back from an injury suffered at the OHL Gold Cup in May.

The tournament is set for November 2-9 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and Swift Current, Saskatchewan. ---- Rees to represent OHL versus Russians

Sarnia Sting forward Jamieson Rees has been named to the OHL roster for game four of the 2019 Canada Russia Series.

Rees will be the lone Sting player in action when Team OHL takes on Russia November 11 from London.

The 18-year-old Hamilton-native has suited up in just one game this season and was handed a six-game suspension for delivering a head check against Hamilton’s Logan Morrison in the season-opener.

The six-game Canada Russia Series will begin November 4 in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and will wrap up November 14 in the Western Hockey League.
