A safe 2019 maintenance turnaround at Shell Canada's Sarnia Manufacturing Centre has proved to be lucrative for Pathways Health Centre for Children.
The company donated $43,500 to the Murphy Road centre in recognition of each day the Corunna site did not have an accident or injury.
Pathways Executive Director Jenny Greensmith said they can't thank Shell workers and contractors enough for choosing the centre as the recipient of this year's funds raised through the Goal Zero Campaign.
"Early assessment, diagnosis and treatment are crucial when it comes to children's health, not addressing needs right away can lead to frustration, complication and exacerbation in the short term and the long term," said Greensmith. "Through the Goal Zero Campaign, Shell is helping to reduce these wait times and increase our local children's accessibility to timely care."
Shell Safety Lead Dan Degurse said supporting an organization like Pathways helps support the company's safety culture on-site because it keeps people focused on daily tasks knowing that their hard work is also supporting a great organization.
