City announces new director of engineering

The City of Sarnia has announced a new director of engineering.

David Jackson has moved into the role, which oversees the engineering, transit and public works divisions.

Jackson has been with the city since July 2017, when he was hired as manager of development, transportation and transit.

Before coming to Sarnia, he was the manager of capital works with the City of St. Thomas and environmental service engineer with the City of London.

Jackson received his Bachelor of Engineering Science from the University of Western Ontario, and holds a graduate diploma in public administration.

"This advancement is a natural progression for David," said Chief Administrative Officer Chris Carter. "We look forward to him continuing to effectively work with council and our external partners to address opportunities related to infrastructure and efficient delivery of services, while staying cost effective."

Jackson replaces Mike Berkvens, who filled the position since the sudden death of Andre Morin in May 2017.
