Police seize purple Fentanyl, stolen property

Sarnia police have seized a large amount of purple Fentanyl and some stolen property from two men in the 2000 block of London Line.

Officers were patrolling the area early Tuesday morning because of ongoing concerns about break and enters.

Cst. John Sottosanti said they were tipped off about two suspicious men unloading items from a vehicle.

"The officers located the vehicle and two male suspects," said Sottosanti. "Officers also located what appeared to be expensive bicycles and tools. Using the serial number from one of the bicycles it was determined that it had been reported stolen. Due to this evidence both male suspects were arrested just before 4 a.m."

During the arrest police say one of the suspects pushed off from the cruiser and tried to run, but was arrested after a brief foot chase.

A search of the suspect allegedly turned up 38.58 grams of purple Fentanyl, with a street value of $19,290, and a small amount of methamphetamine.

Police allege they also found items that could be used in break and enters, including hatchets, a mask, a black pistol pellet gun, and a metal paint ball gun.

John Walker Oravec, 35, of Sarnia has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, escape lawful custody, and possession of Fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.

A 43-year-old Sarnia man has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Both were being held in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
