Former Sarnia councillor and lover of theatre dies

A former Sarnia city councillor and lover of theatre has died.

Don Poore passed away at the age of 90 Friday at Vision Nursing Home.

Mr. Poore was very active in the community, serving as a municipal councillor in both the City of Sarnia and Town of Kingsville.

He was on many municipal committees, was Canadian co-chair of the St. Clair River Bi-National Public Advisory Committee, and helped create the Sarnia branch of crime stoppers.

Don Poore was an amazing character actor and made his television debut in a Mufflerman commercial. He was a past president and honorary life member of Theatre Sarnia.

A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia on Tuesday October 1 at 3:30 p.m., with family and friends being received one hour prior to service time.

Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Sarnia & District Humane Society or the Inn of the Good Shepherd.
