Pharmacy hosting another Naloxone Training Day

The Bluewater Methadone Clinic is hosting a Naloxone Training Day on Friday.

Pharmacist and Manager Marcel Laporte said this is the third time they've held such an event as part of International Overdose Awareness Day.

He says staff will be on hand during the barbecue today to answer questions and offer training for using naloxone.

"We are also going to be offering naloxone kits to those that wish to get one," said Laporte. "The idea is just to try and take away some of the stigma with regards to overdose. Also to prepare those that come to make sure that they have probably the most important tool readily available to them."

The event is on from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the pharmacy at 118 Victoria St.

International Overdose Awareness Day is on Saturday, August 31.

In just the first three months of 2019, there were six confirmed opioid overdose deaths in Sarnia-Lambton.
