Lambton College officially sealed a new time capsule Thursday afternoon.

It will be preserved within the walls of the new NOVA Chemicals Health & Research Centre for the next 48 years.

English teacher Erica Kelly served as project lead collecting items for the capsule over the past year-and-a-half.

She says students submitted poems, stories, reflections and drawings and groups were invited to contribute physical items, with a write-up on the object.

"Really what we wanted to do was include as many voices from the college as possible, so it was a fun job because it was just collecting other peoples thoughts and reflections and especially we wanted student voices included," said Kelly.

"For example, there's a little vial of black soldier fly larvae that's being used as a possible bio-fuel that the applied research students were using. There's a beaded version of the new logo for the Indigenous Student Centre that Marie Short beaded."

Kelly said the Student Administrative Council [SAC] contributed a medal from the men's basketball team.

"The medal for them was all about the connection between international and domestic students and the school pride that shows up at basketball games. Apparently when Lambton goes on the road, even to Toronto, we're the loudest fans around, because the international students come with noise makers in the stands."

President Judy Morris contributed a letter.

"To the Lambton College students and staff of 2067, my hope is you will experience the joy I've found in working at this innovative, caring and student focused college," she read. "It has been a privilege to welcome students from all over the world, from every race, religion and culture as we have learned so much from one another. I expect and hope that in 2067, you will be blind to colour, race and disability as this will mean all of our work in challenging stereotyping and discrimination was successful."

Lambton College celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2017.
