Alleged impaired driver charged with drug trafficking

A driver found asleep behind the wheel in Warwick Township is facing charges including drug trafficking.

Lambton OPP investigated a complaint about a vehicle parked in the middle of the road on Birnam Line at around 12:05 a.m. last Friday.

Officers found a vehicle with the engine still running, and a woman asleep in the driver's seat.

Police said they found narcotics after asking the woman to step out of the vehicle.

She was taken to the Middlesex OPP detachment for evaluation.

Becky Vanderwal, 36, of Brooke-Alvinston is charged with impaired driving and possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking.

She's to appear in Sarnia court at a later date.
