The Salvation Army has put together 400 lunch bags with a week of juice boxes and snacks for low income families in Sarnia-Lambton.
Community and Family Services Manager Lynn Huey said they'll be distributing them Monday from 9 a.m. until noon while supplies last.
"Last year was our first year doing it," said Huey. "It was a great success. We had 202 children that we helped with a lunch bag, so this year we've doubled it, hoping to do 400."
She said Enbridge made a significant donation toward the initiative, and local residents have also been dropping off lunch bags and cash.
"Each child will get a lunch bag, five drink boxes and 15 snacks to help them out with the first week of school."
Parents and guardians are asked to bring identification for themselves and their child to the Salvation Army location at 970 Confederation Street.
Proof of income is also required.
