Bail hearing set in Sarnia murder case

A bail hearing has been set for a 31-year-old Sarnia man charged with second degree murder.

Matthew Gerard Theriault appeared briefly by video Thursday morning at Sarnia courthouse for the 16th time since court proceedings began in April.

He is scheduled to appear before the Superior Court of Justice for an in-person bail hearing September 11.

Theriault is charged in connection with a violent altercation between two men April 17 on Maxwell Street near St. Vincent Street.

Jesse Mowat-Caudle, 26, was found lying on the ground with critical injuries outside a residence. He died in London hospital early the next morning.
