Sarnia's police chief says Sunday's armed bank robbery that led to a serious pursuit-related crash in London shouldn't have happened.
Norm Hansen said one of the two suspects, Hassan Ali, was charged with over a dozen robbery-related offences in the Toronto area in 2017.
"Well the sad thing is that this one suspect is out on [bail for] 13 different robberies," said Hansen. "We usually in any kind of violent situation, oppose bail and if you're going to stick a weapon in someone's face and demand money, to me that's a violent act."
The 21-year-old Ali and Mushin Abdirazak Aden, 23, both from the Mississauga/Etobicoke area, were scheduled to appear in Sarnia court Thursday on numerous charges.
"The way it works is we oppose, the defence fights to get them out, and the justice of the peace decides. Hopefully, with all that's happened here, we'd be successful," Chief Hansen said.

Two masked men, armed with what turned out to be replica handguns, robbed the London Road TD bank just before 4 p.m. July 28 and fled in a vehicle.
OPP pursued the suspects to London where a taxi was hit by a police vehicle critically injuring two fares in the cab, a 27-year-old woman and her nine-year-old daughter.
