Close to $16K in drugs seized

Two people are charged after a bust in the north end netted thousands of dollars worth of drugs.

The Sarnia Police Service Vice Unit was conducting an investigation in the Michigan Avenue area in connection with drug offences.

Detective Cst. Sam Sulaiman said on Friday, July 12 officers observed a male and female in a vehicle engaged in suspected drug trafficking. He said the pair was arrested and a search located six grams of cocaine and a large amount of cash.

Cst. Sulaiman said the next day, officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of Michigan Avenue.

"Officers located digital scales, drug packaging material, brass knuckles, 145 grams of cocaine with a street value of $14,513, 48 ecstasy tablets with a street value of $1,200, and $1,700 in cash," he said.

The combined street value of the drugs was estimated at $15,713.

Ahmed Sardar, 24, and Alisha Allen, 25, of Sarnia are both charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. Sardar is also charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.

Both were held in custody to await a bail hearing.
