The Sarnia Police Service says its recent Shred Event was a success.
Over 650 people brought documents for shredding to the annual event held Saturday May 25 in the Lambton Mall parking lot.
The total weight of shredded documents was 5,443 kilograms or 12,000 pounds.
Police say the annual event helps reduce the number of identity theft victims in the city.
It also raised $2,025.55 in donations for the Torch Run for Special Olympics.
