Camlachie school class tops in energy diet challenge

A class at Errol Village Public School in Camlachie has won the top prize in the annual Classroom Energy Diet Challenge.

The Energy Efficient Eagles completed all 16 challenges.

They even organized an Earth Event as part of a challenge, turning off the lights throughout the school one evening and encouraging other classes to go outside to tidy the schoolyard.

Errol Village Public School will be awarded $2,500 with an additional $500 charitable donation to the Sarnia and District Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The Classroom Energy Diet Challenge has been run for the past eight years involving over 27,000 students from kindergarten to Grade 12.

The event is supported by Canadian Geographic Education and Shell Canada.
