Sarnia-Lambton Liberals announce federal election candidate

The federal Liberal party will acclaim its Sarnia-Lambton candidate for the October election this Thursday.

Local Association Chair Eileen Viola said Carmen Lemieux was the only qualified contestant to complete the nomination application process.

"Carmen is a longtime Sarnia resident, she started her career as a communications specialist with Dow Chemical and then she went into teaching and she became a French Immersion teacher and principal," said Viola.

Viola said Lemieux has followed politics and attended Liberal events for many years with her husband, Scott McKelvie.

She has 20-year-old twins -- a boy and girl.

Local Liberals will gather at the Best Western Guildwood Inn for the nomination meeting.

Speeches get underway at 7:30 p.m.

The federal election is set for October 21.
