Crash leads to impaired driving charge

A 38-year-old woman is charged with impaired driving following a single-vehicle crash in the city's south end early Wednesday morning.

City police responded to the intersection of Williams Drive and Indian Road South at around 3:45 a.m. after a vehicle had entered a ditch.

Police say after speaking with the driver, she was arrested for being impaired and transported back to police headquarters where she blew nearly twice the legal limit.

The accused was also charged for driving while prohibited in Canada.

She was being held for a bail hearing.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
