Plans for a significant housing development south of St. Patrick's Catholic High School have been revealed.
Sarnia Council approved a rezoning application and approved draft subdivision plans in principle for the parcel of land between Highway 402 and The Rapids Parkway Monday night.
The Beaches of Bright's Grove Inc. wants to build 87 single detached dwellings and 72 townhomes.

Council has approved a rezoning application for Vision Nursing Home.
The medical centre/clinic on the site is no longer operating and Vision wants to convert it into office space and residential dwelling rooms.
Five semi-private rooms with two persons sharing each room and one private room are proposed.
The rooms would have an attached bathroom and residents would share kitchen facilities.

There'll be reconstruction work along a section of Christina Street this summer.
City council approved a tender for nearly $630,000 for resurfacing work between Michigan Avenue and Highway 402.
The project is a joint venture between the city of Sarnia and the Village of Point Edward.
A start date hasn't been set, but the project is hoped to be completed before Canada Day.

Council has approved bylaw changes to get ready for the new collision reporting centre behind Sarnia Police Headquarters on Christina Street.
A new commercial loading zone on the east side of Water Street will be dedicated to tow trucks transporting vehicles to the centre.
Parking on the west side of Water Street, between Exmouth and Nelson Streets, will be restricted in some areas and limited to two hours from 8 a.m to 6 p.m Monday to Friday in other spots.

The city has ordered a new fire truck.
The tower truck will be supplied and delivered by Darch Fire Inc. for just over $1.7 million.

$60,000 that had been set aside for a new ramp at the Lawrence House will be used on the Sarnia Library accessibility project instead.
Council approved the recommendation to help pay over $335,000 in construction planned at the library.
Two universal washrooms will be built on the second floor and changes will be made to the main entrance.
