Misguided Michigander charged with impaired driving at bridge

Lambton OPP say a Michigan driver's GPS mistakenly guided her to the Blue Water Bridge in Point Edward where she was charged with impaired driving.

Police say they were called to the bridge at 8:20 p.m. Monday after a 38-year-old Lexington woman accidentally left the U.S. and crossed into Canada.

Suspecting the driver was under the influence of alcohol, the Canada Border Services Agency demanded breath samples, and the woman was found to be over the legal limit.

Her driver's licence and vehicle were seized for seven days, and she was sent back to Michigan.

She's to return for a Sarnia court appearance May 27.
