Nolan Burke scored what turned out to be the only goal for the Sarnia Sting in their 6-1 loss to the Greyhounds Saturday night in Sault Ste. Marie.
The Sting remain in seventh place in the OHL Western Conference with 59 points, three ahead of both Windsor and Erie, who are tied for the eighth and final playoff seed.
Sault Ste. Marie scored first when Cole McKay put his 27th puck of the year into the net at 6:26 of the opening period. Sarnia tied it up over five minutes later on a power-play goal by Nolan Burke.
The Hounds added two goals in the middle period. Ryan O'Rourke picked up the go-ahead goal for Sault Ste. Marie at 4:08, then Ryan Roth got some insurance a short time later for a 3-1 lead at second intermission.
Sault Ste. Marie broke it open in the third period with three goals, from Jacob LeGuerrier, Keeghan Howdeshell and Zach Trott.
Ethan Langevin had 29 saves in goal for the Sting. Matthew Villalta stopped all but one of the 33 shots he faced in net for the Hounds.
The Sting move into the final week of the regular season with their playoff situation still unclear. They host the Saginaw Spirit on Tuesday night.
