A temporary closure of St. Clair Parkway is planned Tuesday at Lambton Generating Station.
Ontario Power Generation has a contractor coming to remove a section of conveyor bridging that crosses the road adjacent to the idle plant.
Decommissioning and demolition project manager Dan Roorda says they decided to expedite the road closure to limit liability.
"There was nothing unsafe about it, but it actually provides a conduit from outside the plant to inside the plant, via that cold conveyor," said Roorda. "We just want to take that down and eliminate that potential access point."
Roorda says the conveyor was used to move coal from the St. Clair River dock into the building to fuel the Courtright area power plant.
St. Clair Parkway, from Courtright Line to Oil Springs Line, will be closed to traffic from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Roorda says signs reminding motorists of the closure will be posted.
