His luck wasn't at the track exactly, but the owner of Hiawatha Horse Park had his ticket pulled for the grand prize in the Dream Home Lottery Friday morning.
Bluewater Health CEO Mike Lapaine made the 24th annual draw in the atrium at the Norman Street site, and pulled out Jim Henderson's ticket.
Henderson said he has his sister Barb to thank for the big win.
"To be honest with you, I didn't even buy the tickets. My sister Barb bought the tickets, and me and her went in on the draw. She buys them every year because she used to work at the hospital."
The Lucas Avenue home is valued at just under $600,000 and includes furnishings, electronics and appliances.
Henderson said he and his sister haven't discussed yet whether or not to take the $350,000 in cash or keep the home.
Bluewater Health Foundation Executive Director Kathy Alexander toured the home with Mr. Henderson Friday afternoon.
She said this year's lottery was the most successful in its 24-year history.
"Not only was the dream home a sellout, but we had a very generous donation recently," said Alexander. "So that donation coupled with the sellout of the lottery has allowed us to achieve our fundraising campaign for two new mammography machines for Bluewater Health, which really is the purpose behind all that we do."
Alexander said the Dream Home fundraiser nets about $300,000 a year, and they have even bigger plans, with more tickets, for the 25th annual lottery next year.
