Petrolia council has approved a 2019 budget that increases taxes one per cent.
The increase adds $10 for every $100,000 of assessment to the municipal portion of the property tax bill.
Water rates are going up two per cent but sewer rates in the Hard Oil Town are decreasing by five per cent.
Petrolia's water capital program includes an $8 million water treatment plant for which the town received $7 million in provincial grants.
General capital expenditures of $778,000 include a Parks & Recreation Master Plan, new Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus for two fire trucks, a new transfer station for yard waste, and road maintenance and reconstruction.
Town council approved the budget as presented at Monday's regular meeting.
Chief Administrative Officer/Treasurer Rick Charlebois said, "staff have worked very hard to come up with a balanced budget addressing both the needs of the town, and planning for the future of Petrolia.”
