As forecast, an Alberta Clipper was spreading snow across the region Monday.
Environment Canada posted a special weather statement for Sarnia-Lambton, and a snowfall warning for London, Parkhill and eastern Middlesex County.
Main and secondary roads in the city quickly became snow covered and slippery Monday afternoon.
Area highways had also deteriorated in the snowfall and southeast winds to 50 km/h were causing blowing snow and reduced visibility.
The MTO reported Monday afternoon that Highway 402 was snow covered with visibility fair to poor, Highway 40 Wallaceburg to Sarnia was snow covered with fair visibility, and Highway 21 from the 402 to Zurich-Hensall Road was snow covered with poor visibility.
OPP were reporting collisions throughout Lambton County and the West Region Monday afternoon. They also reported a tractor trailer in the ditch on the westbound 402 west of Sexton Road.

Constable Adam Crewdson appealed to drivers to slow down.
"Get your vehicles cleaned off, drive slowly, and increase your following difference," said Crewdson. "Everyone is going to get home safe if we can follow those rules."
The Sarnia area is expected to get 10 centimetres to 15 centimetres, 4 to 6 inches, of snow Monday afternoon, and another two to four centimetres Monday night.
The drive home Monday evening was being impacted, and blowing snow was expected for Tuesday morning's commute as winds shift southwesterly and remain gusty through Tuesday.
Following the passage of the Alberta Clipper temperatures will plummet as a polar vortex takes hold.
Sarnia's forecast high temperature for Wednesday is -17 C (1.4 F), not including wind chill.
The temperature will moderate by the weekend with a high of 3 C (37 F) by Sunday.
