Kyrou set for AHL all-star festivities

A former Sarnia Sting captain is quickly asserting himself among the top players in the AHL.

Earlier this month, Jordan Kyrou was named to the AHL All-Star Classic, which goes January 27 and 28 in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The 20-year-old entered the all-star break leading his San Antonio Rampage in goals with 11, and tied for the team lead in points with 25 in 26 games played.

Kryou began his season in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues, but was sent down to the AHL in October after scoring one goal and adding two assists in 16 games.

Another former Sting will also suit up in the All-Star Classic -- Reid Boucher, who spent two seasons with Sarnia from 2011 to 2013, will represent the Utica Comets.

The 25-year-old Boucher has 17 goals and 39 points in 33 games this season.

The all-star festivities begin Sunday night with the skills competition -- the four-team, three on three tournament goes Monday night.
