The sentencing of a former Sarnia high school teacher who admitted to having sex with a male student has been delayed until the new year.
Melissa Lefebvre, 38, pleaded guilty in July to touching the student for sexual purposes while in a position of authority at Northern Collegiate Institute and Vocational School.
Lefebvre, who did not appear in the Ontario Court of Justice Wednesday, is now scheduled to be sentenced January 10.
Sarnia lawyer David Stoesser appeared on behalf of her lawyer, Zachary Kerbel of Toronto, to set the new date.
Court heard previously that the year-long relationship began in 2016 when the student was 16.
There were about 20 sexual encounters between the two, which included oral sex and intercourse.
The Crown is seeking an 18-month jail sentence, while the defence argues a 10-month sentence is appropriate.
