Injury prevention session looks to keep you active

An information session on how to live an active lifestyle while avoiding injury is set for Wednesday night.

Local health professionals will be on hand to discuss the balance between injuries and exercise, how to prevent and identify injuries, and other topics related to staying active.

The session is part of a speaker series hosted by Community Active Living Lambton (CALL).

Moderator Erin White said an active lifestyle has no age limit, and that everyone is welcome to attend the free session.

"Nowadays the emphasis is on exercising and being physically active whether you play a sport or not. Just increasing your activity level per day is open to everybody," he said. "We know with a lack of adequate and regular physical activity, the risk of chronic disease increases, but we also know that physical activity also increases the risk of injury. So we want to discuss this conundrum as well as many other timely topics."

Wednesday's session goes from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Strangway Centre at 260 East St. N.

CALL's speaker series continues with discussions on mental health planned for January 16, and a third session about physical activity which goes March 20.
