Flaring reported at NOVA Chemicals

NOVA Chemicals is reporting that its site in Corunna is experiencing higher than normal flaring.

NOVA Chemicals said Wednesday evening that the elevated flaring is a result of "a process upset."

"The duration of flaring is unknown at this time, and we apologize for the noise and light disturbances that this causes our neighbours and community," a statement said. "We are actively working to return the facility to normal operating conditions as soon as possible. There are no other offsite impacts at this time."

Personnel are managing an issue with the on-site ethane feed system, NOVA Chemicals said.

No further information has been released at this time.
